I’m not sure where the tradition of the tailgate party
started in relation to football, but I think it’s a great idea, and I either
attend them or throw several every year during football season. Often times I
get together with friends that like the same teams I do, or live in the same
area, and we all get tickets to the
game and parking passes, and go crazy with the tailgating.
I like to do a little research before I start my planning. Read up on the teams, the stadium, etc. and plan accordingly. I read a lot of blogs, like Sports and Stuff and others, where I find I can get ideas from.

There is a bit of an art to a good tailgate party. Not only
do you need to know how to grill awesome food, you need to make sure you have
plenty of other foods. Picnic style foods work best: potato or pasta salads,
fruit, cakes or other sweet stuff for desert, and plenty of beverages.
Beer is a very popular beverage at tailgate parties, but
there is something to consider when alcohol is included: the stadium won’t
admit someone who is drunk. Now, some people will get parking passes only,
drive to the stadium and throw the party while watching the game on portable
televisions or radios. People that do that don’t need to worry about the
alcohol restrictions, but why go if you don’t see the game in the end?
